ATLA Labs offers an intensive workshop that helps communities create immersive simulations of the future they want.

By “community,” we mean any group with a shared stake: a neighbourhood, project, team, or organisation.

Unlike other strategy or futuring workshops, we start by creating a future where your goals have been achieved and normalised. From there, we look at the implications and value of that future for everyone involved and how it can be achieved.

ATLA Writing Retreats are immersive experiences for advanced writers, senior practitioners, independent researchers, and doctoral candidates who want depth, momentum, and exacting dialogue.

We host them nationwide for close-knit cohorts, blending structured deep-work blocks with salon-style critique and cross-disciplinary prompts drawn from archive, place, image, and sound. Expect clear frameworks, generous feedback, and practical guidance.

A a series of training programs designed to develop knowledge and skills in integrating filmmaking into research practice.

The program explores how film can open alternative ways of knowing and storytelling through creative techniques such as cinematography, sound design, editing, and visual composition. It highlights opportunities for using mixed methods in data collection, capturing reflective processes, democratising research through collaborative production, and presenting findings in dynamic, visually engaging formats accessible to diverse audiences.
